During the summer holidays, Merle goes on a multi-day bike tour with her boyfriend Clemens to East Frisia. When Merle wakes up at night in the youth hostel, she hears Clemens talking on the phone. She has to overhear that he has planned this bike ride as his last joint activity, after which he wants to break up with her. After a sleepless night, Merle leaves the hostel the next morning to set off on her bike alone. At the destination, the unhappy and desperate Merle meets Ole, who has to cope with his mother's accident and can only continue to run his home on the North Sea with Merle's spontaneous help. Ole is happy to have Merle at his side. But then Clemens suddenly appears...
